How do you read cost per VDP view in Ads Manager?
Ads Manager has no column called VDP views. The closest stand-in is landing page views, which counts a page load after a tap, as long as the Meta pixel is on your site and each ad links to that unit's VDP. Cost per landing page view is your Ads Manager estimate of cost per VDP view.
Which Ads Manager column counts a VDP view?
None of them by that name. Meta counts what happens on its side of the tap, and three columns get closer to a VDP view in turn.
| Column | What it counts | How close to a VDP view |
|---|---|---|
| Link clicks | Taps on the ad's link, including some to destinations inside Meta | Loosest. Counts shoppers who never reached your site |
| Outbound clicks | Taps that took the shopper off Meta | Closer. The shopper left Meta, but the page may not have loaded |
| Landing page views | Page loads your Meta pixel recorded after a tap | Strictest. The page has to load and the pixel has to fire |
Why is landing page views the stricter number?
A shopper can tap the ad and back out before your page loads. Outbound clicks still counts that tap. Landing page views only counts it once the page loads and your Meta pixel fires, which is much closer to what your site analytics calls a VDP view. The column has two limits. If the pixel isn't installed on your website, it stays empty. And it only maps to a VDP view if each ad sends the shopper to that unit's detail page, not a search results page or your homepage.
How do I find cost per landing page view?
In Ads Manager, open the Columns menu, choose to customize columns, and search for landing page views. You can add both the count and the cost per landing page view. Set the date range to a full month. Then check the count against VDP views in your site analytics, filtered to the UTM tags on your ads.
What do other dealers pay per VDP view?
Public numbers are thin. Dan Sayer, a dealer posting on DealerRefresh in March 2025, described cost per VDP as "what am I paying you to get a set of eyeballs on my car. We see anywhere from $0.54 to $1.38." That is one dealer's range, not an industry benchmark. Use it as a rough check next to what your listing sites cost per VDP view.
Why don't Ads Manager and my site analytics match?
They count in different ways. Ads Manager credits a landing page view to the ad using Meta's attribution, while your site analytics credits the visit by its UTM tags or referrer. Ad blockers, cookie banners, and browsers that limit tracking can drop visits from either count, so expect some gap. If Meta shows far more landing page views than your analytics shows VDP views from those ads, check that every ad links to a live VDP and that the UTM tags are in place.

Common questions
Is cost per link click the same as cost per VDP view?
No. Link clicks include taps that never reached your site, so cost per link click runs lower than cost per VDP view. It is a fine quick check, but landing page views and your site analytics are closer to what a shopper saw.
Why does my landing page views column show nothing?
The Meta pixel is probably missing from your website, or it doesn't load on your VDPs. Ask whoever manages your website to confirm the pixel fires on vehicle detail pages. Until it does, use outbound clicks and your site analytics.
Does VinScroll report cost per VDP view?
Yes. The monthly plain-English email report includes reach, video views, VDP clicks, and cost per VDP view. Ad spend runs in your own Meta ad account, so you can pull the same columns in Ads Manager and check them yourself.
