How many of your cars have a video?
If your store looks like the ones we checked, very few. Of 302 franchised Minnesota rooftops in Meta's Ad Library in September 2026, 71 ran any video ad, and one ran video built around single stock units, on three cars. The likely gap is labor. Filming every car takes more hours than most stores have.
How many dealers run video ads on Meta?
On September 23, 2026, we checked 302 franchised Minnesota rooftops in Meta's public Ad Library. 150 had active ads. 71, or 24%, ran any video ad, and only 31 ran a video that named a model or price. That counts stores running video, not cars with video. The car count is much smaller.
How many dealers have a video for every car?
None that we found. One store, Waconia Dodge, ran video built around single stock units, and only on three cars. No store in the study covered its lot in video. Of the 411 video ads we found, 310 named no model or price, so most of the video ads we saw don't show a shopper a car they can buy today.
How long would it take to film every car?
Here is the math for a 200-car lot, assuming 20 minutes to shoot, trim, and post each video. That covers the lot once. New arrivals need their own videos and every price change makes an old one wrong, so the hours come back every week.
| 200-car lot | |
|---|---|
| Cars on the lot | 200 |
| Minutes per video (estimate) | 20 |
| Total minutes | 4,000 |
| Total hours | About 66 |
| 40-hour weeks of one person's time | About 1.7 |
Who at my store is supposed to make them?
Often one person who already has three other jobs. jenniferexclusive, a new marketing hire at a used lot of about 50 units, wrote on DealerRefresh in December 2023: "Ive posted all of our inventory on marketplace, I make tiktoks, and I make FB posts pretty regularly but nothing is really taking off." The usual advice skips the labor. An r/Entrepreneur commenter in May 2025 told dealers to "do a video about every car you get," as if the filming were free.
What can I do if nobody has the time?
There are three common routes. You can film the units that matter most, such as aged inventory and high-margin front-line units, and leave the rest on photos. You can hire it out to an agency or a video vendor, then check what a per-car fee does to your ad spend per unit sold. Or you can build the videos from the photos you already take, so the work grows with the feed instead of with staff hours.

Common questions
Is 24% a share of cars or of dealers?
Of dealers. 71 of the 302 Minnesota rooftops we checked ran at least one video ad of any kind. The share of cars with their own video ad was far smaller: one store, three cars.
Does a video on the VDP count?
It helps the shopper who already found the car on your site. A video ad on Meta does a different job: it puts the unit in front of in-market shoppers who haven't found your site yet.
How many cars does VinScroll cover?
Every eligible unit in your inventory feed gets its own vertical video ad, built from the unit's photos. New arrivals get an ad, price changes rebuild it, and sold units come down the same day.
